Charles Jones is the Head of National Indirect Lending and leads the Dealer Financial Services Line of Business. This includes responsibility for helping auto dealers in twenty-one states and the District of Colombia with their retail indirect auto lending needs. In addition, he has responsibility for Marine/ RV lending within SunTrust Banks, Inc.
Charles joined SunTrust in December 2014, but is an experienced Consumer Executive that started his career in January 1982. Most recently, Charles was founder and President of Strategic Automotive Consultants, L.L.C. from 2013-2014. Prior to that, he was a Senior Vice President, Indirect Production Manager for Wells Fargo Dealer Services from 2007-2013. Charles also served from 2002-2007, as Senior Vice President/Division Manager for Wells Fargo Dealer Services. He has worked at CitiFinancial, Bank One, First City, and other institutions in various roles including compliance, and different lending roles in his career.
Charles graduated from Sam Houston State University with a BBA in Finance in 1981. In 2011, he was inducted into the Hall of Honor for the College of Business Administration at Sam Houston State.
Charles and his wife have sponsored 110 scholarships since 2002 at Sam Houston State and other universities to help first generation students achieve their educational goals. He currently serves on the AFSA Board of Directors, Vehicle Finance and Vehicle Credit Risk Committees, and Dahlonega-Lumpkin Co. Chamber-Visitors Board of Directors and Government Affairs Committee. He serves on the Advisory Council for the College of Business Administration for Sam Houston State University. Additionally, Charles serves on the CBA Auto Finance Committee. He and his wife Debbie reside in Dahlonega, Georgia and have one daughter Lauren who is age 32.
